David Abreu is a third generation Napa Valley native and grew up in Rutherford in a family with farming interests. As a teenager, David worked in both the Inglenook and Caymus vineyards. And as time passed, his interests focused on viticulture and he began to farm and manage several properties on his own. In 1980 he formed David Abreu Management Company and also developed the Madrona Ranch Vineyard. Six years later he produced his first wine from Madrona Ranch’s Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc fruit. Subsequently, his wines have had a record of stunning successes, and David is widely acknowledged as the most sought after vineyard manager in the Napa Valley, joining the Rudd team in 2006. David’s winemaker, Brad Grimes, has consulted at Rudd Oakville Estate since 2008, and works closely with our team in both the vineyard and the winery.
